Fun event for local green organizations

On Saturday, my fellow intern (Dana) and I (Matt) attended an event called Green Up Medford. The event was held in the Medford Whole Foods parking lot, and received some great attention from the shoppers at Whole Foods. The sun shined for us all day as the shoppers poured out of Whole Foods and eagerly made their way over to the event. Everyone got to learn not only about Green City Growers, but also interacted with many other locally run green and sustainable companies. From buying cacti or solar power jewelry, to seeing if your home is suitable for solar panels, Green Up Medford had a great group of attendees. We were alongside some organizations such as Red Worms For A Greener Earth, Next Step Living, and the Somerville Gardening Club. There was also a children’s table set up where kids gathered to get their face painted, blow bubbles, and color (Dana and I may have had some fun with this too...).

Green City Growers got a lot of attention throughout the day as Dana and I were informing many people all about our raised bed vegetable gardens. Typically people loved us and were very interested in raised bed gardening. We generated a little interest, and handed out plenty of information to potential clients. Overall the day was a great success, and we look forward to going back next year! Finally we want to give a huge thanks to Mary Landale for putting this event on. She worked incredibly hard to make this event a success, and we appreciate her efforts.
