Flatbread Company and Green City Growers
Many grocery stores and restaurants claim to have local food, but "local" is really a matter of opinion. In consumer minds, this word is branded to mean up the street or maybe the next town over, but what it means more often then not is simply that it doesn't come from California or outside of the U.S.
Green City Growers is working to bring "local" as close to home as possible: the roof! Flatbread (Located in Davis Square, Somerville) recently had 100 sq feet of rooftop garden installed. In their gardens they will grow many of the ingredients for their delicious menu, so if you want to really eat local then stop by!
